Synopsis

Tokyo 1999, after studying literature, Jake Adelstein applies for a job at the Yomiuri Shinbun – the newspaper with the highest circulation in the world. He is the first foreigner to pass the employment test for this newspaper and gets the job. At first, he finds the world of Japanese journalism quite difficult and realizes things are completely different here. He is determined to write investigative articles about the underground world of Tokyo and teams up with police officer Hiroto Katagiri.
