Description

Toyoo Ashida was a Japanese filmmaker, animation producer, director, character designer, animation director, animator, storyboard writer and rare screenwriter who was active from 1965 to 2009.

After graduating from Chiba Commercial High School, he worked for the animation studios TCJ and then Mushi Production, which he joined in 1969. When the latter went bankrupt in 1973, he founded his own studio without further ado: Modoki Production. This only lasted a short time, however, and the studio was closed again within a very short time, and Ashida founded Studio Live together with all the employees of Modoki Production.

He held the position of president of Studio Live until shortly before his death, when he stepped down to take on the role of CEO of the studio. However, on July 23, 2011, Ashida passed away at the age of 67.
