Michael Christian wurde als Sohn des Schauspielerehepaars Norbert Christian und Myriam Sello-Christian in Lubmin geboren. Nach dem Schulabschluss besuchte er von 1964 bis 1967 die Hochschule für Schauspielkunst.
Dann bekamm er eine klassische Schauspielausbildung, die neben Sprechunterricht auch Fechten umfasste. Sein erstes Bühnenengagement erhielt er 1967.
