Description

Makoto Shinkai is a Japanese anime director and animator. He studied Japanese literature at Chuuou University in Tokyo.

In 1999, he released “She and Her Cat”, a five-minute short film in black and white. This won several awards, including the Grand Prize at the DoGA CG Animation Competition 2000. He then worked as a graphic designer for the video game producer Falcom until May 2001. From June 2000 he worked on "Voices of a Distant Star", which he realised together with MangaZoo in about seven months and dubbed with his fiancée.

In addition to his own projects, Shinkai also animates opening credits for minori, a company for Japanese adventure eroge.
